I am not a golf instructor. In fact, it is important for me not to be one. Maintaining my amateur status for competition is predicated on not playing for a living and not teaching for one.As a result, I have partnered with Bob Augustine and Shelby Futch of John Jacob Schools of Golf to provide you with some of the basic aspects how to play the game. When I am involved in CustomerGolf® seminars, they are my partners and we generally hold the seminars at one of their many teaching locations around the country. Getting ?good? instructions is vital to playing your best, enjoying the game and being confident when playing business golf. Some of Bob?s & Shelby?s instructional thoughts follow.
As an introduction to what they have to say, I do have a couple of thoughts.
I personally have always focused on the four basics of grip, stance, posture and alignment. A foundation in these four areas will give anyone wanting to play the game a solid start.
An old adversary of mine once told me ?golf is 90% between the ears and the other 10% is between the ears.? I couldn?t agree more. So the best advice I can give anyone is to learn the basics from a good professional and then focus your effort on thinking correctly with most of your practice time spent on your short game (125 yards from the hole and in).
(Golf instruction from John Jacobs is under construction and is coming soon)
